The New Zealand cricket team canceled their tour of Pakistan on Friday due to "security concerns," just hours before the opening match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was set to begin.
The Pakistan Cricket Board claimed in a statement that New Zealand Cricket (NZC) had notified them of "some security warning" and had unilaterally opted to postpone the series.
On September 11, the New Zealand cricket team landed in Pakistan for the first time in 18 years to play three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.
The Rawalpindi Stadium will host the ODI series against New Zealand, with matches planned for September 17, 19, and 21, while the Gaddafi Stadium will hold five T20 matches from September 25 to October 3.
