Sohaib Maqsood, the Southern Punjab opening batsman, let his bat do the talking under great pressure, with media rumors saying he may lose his spot in the T20 World Cup squad.

It was a vital encounter for Sohaib, who had failed to hit any of his targets in his previous three bouts.

When the match ended, though, right-handed batsmen hammered Northern bowlers for fours and sixes all over the ground.

Maqsood scored 75 runs in 47 balls, which was an amazing performance. He hit eight fours and four sixes in his innings.

Sohaib Maqsood's innings were significantly responsible for South Punjab's solid 175/6 in 20 overs. However, his achievement was not enough to help the squad win the game, as Northern successfully pursued the total.

Northern won the game by four wickets in the penultimate over of the contest, thanks to a blazing half-century by Nawaz and a blistering 40 by Haider Ali.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik is expected to be selected in the team, while aggressive batters Azam Khan and Sohaib Maqsood are expected to be omitted, according to reports.

Due to his poor performance in the present National T20 Cup, Mohammad Hasnain's chances of staying in the squad are also dwindling.

A few days earlier, Chief Selector Muhammad Waseem met with skipper Babar Azam and six other selectors to discuss making changes to the team.

According to reports, "the top selector has encouraged players to perform boldly in the T20 National Cup, stating that it would not serve as anyone's trial."

Sohaib Maqsood has only scored 42 runs in three matches before this one, an average of 14 runs per match.
