DUSHANBE, Tajikistan – Prime Minister Imran Khan met with international leaders on Thursday during his visit to the Tajikistan capital for the 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State . A meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko was one of them, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. According to the statement, the two leaders discussed mutual efforts for strengthening of Pakistan-Belarus relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues.

PM Imran Khan expressed pleasure with the increased collaboration between the two nations while reviewing bilateral relations. Pakistan is "committed to further expanding its relations with Belarus across all sectors of mutual interest, including commerce, investment, agriculture, industry, and defense," according to the prime minister.

It was also decided to improve bilateral exchanges at the highest levels of parliament and politics. The two countries agreed that the Belarusian foreign minister's visit to Pakistan later this year will help substantially to the consolidation and growth of bilateral cooperation in a variety of sectors.

In addition, the two presidents discussed Afghanistan's condition.

Pakistan, he said, had a critical stake in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan since it had been the country most afflicted by violence and instability in Afghanistan for more than 40 years.

The international community "must stand by the Afghan people, assist in averting a humanitarian disaster, and take efforts to stabilize the economy," according to the prime minister. He reaffirmed Pakistan's complete support for efforts to stabilize Afghanistan and expressed hope that the international community will play a beneficial role in this area as well.


Meeting with Kazakhstan president

The premier also held a bilateral meeting with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
